What is the OCID in a Google Ads URL?
What the ocid parameter in Google Ads links means and how chiliad uses it for deep links.
Open any page in Google Ads and look at the address bar. Among the parameters you will find ocid= followed by a number. That is the OCID: the identifier Google Ads uses in its own URLs to say which account a page belongs to.
OCID versus customer ID
They identify the same account but are different numbers. The customer ID is the 10-digit number shown in the interface (123-456-7890). The OCID appears only in URLs. You cannot work out one from the other by looking at them.
Why it matters
A link to Google Ads without the right OCID opens whichever account you used last. With it, the link opens the intended account directly. That is what makes deep links possible: straight to an account's campaigns, its scripts page or its settings.
How chiliad uses it
chiliad uses the OCID for the Open in Google Ads links on account pages. It is normally detected automatically through the Google Ads API. Where it cannot be detected β for example on some manager accounts β you can enter it yourself:
- Open the account in Google Ads.
- Copy the number after
ocid=in the address bar. - In chiliad, open the account's menu, choose Set OCID and paste it.
After that the links for that account go to the right place.
