How to update an installed marketplace script
How chiliad signals that a marketplace script has a new version, and how to review and apply the update.
Scripts in the marketplace are maintained: Google changes fields and limits, bugs get fixed, options are added. Your installed copy does not change by itself, so chiliad shows you when the original has moved on.
How you find out
- A notification when the update is published.
- An Update available badge on the script in your Scripts list and on its page.
- A banner on the script page with a note about what changed.
Reviewing the update
Click Review & upgrade. The dialog shows:
- Incoming update — the differences between your current code and the new version.
- Your local changes — what you changed compared with the version you installed, if anything.
- The variables whose values will be kept.
Applying it
Click Upgrade to latest version. The new code becomes current and is used by every assigned account on the next run. Nothing changes in Google Ads.
Values you set in the script's top-level variables are carried into the new version. Per-account values in the Configure table are stored separately and are not touched.
If something goes wrong
The code you had before the upgrade is kept on the Versions tab, marked with its source. Restore it and you are back where you were.
When not to upgrade blindly
If you rewrote parts of the script, the upgrade replaces those parts. Read the incoming differences first, and consider applying the relevant lines by hand instead.
- 1
The banner on the script page says an update exists, what changed, and whether your copy has local edits.
- 2
Compare the Incoming update with Your local changes before deciding.
- 3
Values you set in the script's top-level variables are carried over to the new version.
- 4
Upgrade to latest version replaces the code. The previous code stays in Versions, so you can restore it.
