How to customize a marketplace script
Adapting an installed script by changing settings, per-account values or the code itself.
Installing a marketplace script gives you a copy that you can change freely. There are three levels of customization; use the lightest one that does the job.
1. Change the settings
Most adjustments are settings: thresholds, lookback windows, email addresses, spreadsheet URLs. The script's marketplace page lists every configuration variable with its default and a description.
Marketplace scripts arrive with their settings in the code. Open the Variables tab, add the detected settings as variables and save. From then on you change values in a form rather than in the code.
2. Set values per account
If clients need different values, assign the script to their accounts and fill in the Configure table on the Accounts tab. Empty cells use the default.
3. Edit the code
When you need different logic, edit the script in the editor. Typical changes:
- adding a condition, such as skipping campaigns with a certain label,
- changing what the email or sheet contains,
- combining the script with another check.
Every save is a version, so you can compare with the original and restore it.
What happens with later updates
If the original gets a new version, chiliad tells you and shows whether your copy has local changes. Before upgrading you can compare the incoming update with your edits. Values you set in the script's top-level variables are carried over; other code edits are replaced by the new version, and the previous code stays in Versions.
If you have changed a script heavily, treat an update as a reference: read what changed and apply the parts you want by hand.
- 1
chiliad detects top-level settings in your code and offers to add them as variables.
- 2
Each variable has a type (text, number, boolean, URL or JSON) and a default value that every account uses unless you override it.
- 3
Save variables to make them available in the per-account table.
