Workspace roles explained: Owner, Admin and Member

What each role in a chiliad workspace can do, and how to change roles or transfer ownership.

Every person in a workspace has one of three roles. Roles decide who can manage the team and the subscription; a separate access setting decides which accounts a person can see.

Owner

There is one owner per workspace. The owner has full access, controls billing and the subscription, and is the only one who can transfer ownership to someone else.

Admin

Admins run the workspace day to day. They can invite and remove members, change roles and access, connect accounts, manage scripts and set workspace-level options such as the Slack webhook.

Member

Members do the work: create and edit scripts, assign them to accounts, set values and read run history. They cannot manage the team or the subscription.

Roles and account access are separate

Alongside the role, each person has an access level:

Full access — every account in the workspace.
Private — only the accounts that person connected.

A Member with full access sees all clients. A Member with private access sees only their own. See How to limit a team member to specific client accounts.

Changing roles

In Settings → Team, open the menu on a person's row to promote or demote them, change their access, or remove them from the workspace.

Transferring ownership

The owner can hand the workspace to another member from the same menu. Do this before an owner leaves the company: billing and the ability to manage the subscription go with the role.

Choosing roles sensibly

Keep the number of admins small.
Give account managers the Member role with the access level that matches their clients.
Make sure at least two people can deal with an expired Google connection or a billing issue.
