How to limit a team member to specific client accounts
Use private access so freelancers and specialists see only their own client accounts in a shared workspace.
Not everyone in a workspace should see every client. A freelancer handling three accounts for your agency does not need the other forty, and some clients require that access is limited to named people.
Full access and private access
Each member has one of two access levels:
- Full access β sees and works with every Google Ads account in the workspace.
- Private β sees and works with only the accounts they connected themselves.
The access level is shown as a badge next to each person in Settings β Team. For private members it also shows how many accounts they have.
Setting it
- When inviting: choose the access level next to the role before sending the invite.
- Later: open the menu on the person's row and choose Restrict to own accounts or Grant full access.
Per-member account access is available from the Studio plan.
How it works in practice
A private member connects their own Google login and adds the client accounts they manage. Those accounts are theirs to work with; they are also visible to members with full access, so an agency lead can still see everything. Scripts remain shared, so the specialist uses the same library as the rest of the team.
What it applies to
The limit follows the person everywhere: the accounts list, assigning scripts, run history, GAQL Lab, and the Claude connector, which works with the same access as the member who authorized it.
When someone leaves
Removing a member takes away their access immediately. The workspace's scripts are left in place. Accounts reached only through that person's Google login will need another connection from someone who has access to them.
