GAQL Lab
Query live Google Ads data with GAQL: write queries with autocomplete, build them visually and export the results.
GAQL (Google Ads Query Language) is the SQL-like language behind Google Ads reporting. GAQL Lab runs queries against any connected account, straight from chiliad.
When to use it
- Before writing a script β check which campaigns, labels or conversion actions an account really has.
- For a quick report β pull numbers without building a report in Google Ads.
- While debugging β run the query your script uses and look at what comes back.
The Lab is read-only. It accepts SELECT queries only and cannot change anything in your accounts.
The editor
As you type, the editor suggests fields, resources and date ranges for the position of your cursor. Press Ctrl+Space to open the suggestions yourself.
- 1
Pick the account to query.
- 2
Start from an example and adapt it.
- 3
Run Query, or press
Cmd+Enter. The validator flags unknown fields and syntax errors before you run. - 4
Results with readable column names. Cost values in micros are converted for you.
- 5
Copy the query as an
AdsApp.search()snippet for a script, or download the rows as CSV.
Tip
History under the editor keeps your recent queries so you can run them again.
The query builder
Not sure of the field names? The Builder tab assembles the query from a form.
- 1
Choose the resource to query β the
FROMpart. - 2
Tick the fields you need. They are grouped into attributes, metrics and segments.
- 3
Add filters, including date ranges such as
LAST_7_DAYS. - 4
Use in Editor moves the generated query to the editor, where you can run or refine it.
From query to script
A query that returns the right rows is most of a reporting script. Click AdsApp.search() to copy a ready snippet that runs the same query inside Google Ads, then build your logic around it in a script.
Claude can run the same read-only queries through the Claude connector, which is how it checks real account data before setting per-account values.
